Vienna, VA – October 8, 2024
ENSCO, Inc. computer scientist Dr. Joe Mitola, a Fellow of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), will deliver a virtual presentation during the 2024 IEEE 100th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC2024-Fall) from October 7-10 in Washington DC. Dr. Mitola’s presentation will focus on advancing the future of cybersecurity, emphasizing the transition from software-defined-systems to increasingly hardware-defined systems using Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) hardware for enhanced cyber hardening.
In his panel presentation on October 9 at 11 a.m. EDT, Dr. Mitola will explore the concept of "computications," a term that refers to the convergence of computing and communications technologies. This shift is critical to the future of the Cognitive Internet of Things (CIoT), an evolution of the Cognitive Radio system Dr. Mitola pioneered in the late 1990s. Dr. Mitola’s presentation will highlight ongoing research from an ENSCO Internal Research and Development (IRAD) program. The session will provide insight into how these developments can fortify critical infrastructures in our increasingly interconnected world.
Dr. Mitola will remotely join a panel of renowned experts in a variety of areas anticipating future challenges with vehicular and ancillary technologies. IEEE VTC2024-Fall brings together individuals from academia, government, and industry to discuss and collaborate on ideas in the fields of wireless, mobile, and vehicular technology.
