From Weather Observation to Forecasting, ENSCO Presents the Latest in Meteorological Technology and Applications at the 89th Annual Meeting of the American Meteorological Society

Falls Church, Va., October 30, 2008—ENSCO scientists will unveil the latest in meteorological technology and applications at the American Meteorological Society (AMS) meeting, Jan. 11-15, 2009 in Phoenix, Ariz. The following ENSCO experts will present papers and/or presentations:

Jonathan L. Case, ENSCO scientist, will present the following papers, Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, 11 a.m.–12 p.m.

Scientist Joe Barrett will present:

  • Anvil Forecast Tool in the Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System

Senior scientist Joe Dreher and staff scientist Winnie Crawford will present:

  • Statistical Short-Range Guidance for Peak Wind Speed Forecasts at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.

Senior scientists Leela Watson and Bill Bauman will present:

  • Observation Denial and Performance of a Local Mesoscale Model
  • Weather Research and Forecasting Model Wind Sensitivity Study at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.

As part of the Aviation, Range and Aerospace Meteorology Special Symposium  on Weather-Air Traffic management Integration, James Stobie and Robert Gillen will present “An enhanced convective forecast (ECF) for the New York TRACON area,” Jan. 13, 2009. In the afternoon session of the same symposium, Stobie and Gillen will present a follow-up paper titled: “Integrating convective weather forecasts with the traffic management advisor" J. G.
