VisiRail Joint Bar Inspection

Broken joint bars have been identified as one of the significant causes of main line derailments in North America. However, locating these hairline cracks in joint bars is a labor intensive and non-exact process. At speeds up to 50 mph, the ENSCO Optical Joint Bar Inspection System is unique in its capability to inventory joint bars and detect small, barely visible cracks in the joint bar surface. The system provides significant improvement in inspection quality and objectivity compared with visual inspection from a hi-railer, and significant improvement in productivity compared with on-foot inspection since cracks as small as one millimeter in width can be detected.

VisiRail Roadbed Inspection

Performing inspections of the roadbed is time consuming and difficult to manage in high traffic areas. Using the VisiRail Roadbed Imaging System allows railroads to collect continuous images of the roadbed from a moving platform.  The system can be added to a track inspection vehicle or used as a separate stand-alone application. The ability to store these geo-referenced images allows for any area in question to be evaluated over a period of time to closely examine the roadbed conditions from your office.

VisiRail Right of Way Video

The Right of Way (ROW) Video Recording system collects digital images of the track and can operate in stand-alone mode or as an integrated component of a track inspection system such as the Track Geometry Measurement or Joint Bar Inspection Systems. Images of rail infrastructure in the ROW can be used for visual review of locations with detected exceptions and exception verifications. The collected images can also be used for analysis of safety conditions on grade crossings and bridges, accident investigations, inspection planning, and presentations.
