Railway personnel are continuously faced with the challenge of determining where to focus inspections, plan for maintenance and ensure the effectiveness of these decisions. Many pieces of information are required to make these informed decisions such as geometry and rail defect rates, track quality index, tonnage, speed, curvature, infrastructure and program maintenance history, to name a few. Since these pieces of information are often generated and maintained by a variety of people and systems, it can be difficult to assimilate the information into a single view or report—and building an in-house system from the ground up can cost organizations large capital and manpower investments.
ENSCO’s TrackIT Data Management System addresses these issues with a simple to use, low-cost solution for providing senior railroad management, engineering and maintenance-of-way personnel with a window into the condition, infrastructure and planning that takes place on a railroad. ENSCO has invested several years into designing a system that integrates common railroad data formats into consolidated graphical and reporting views with an intuitive interface that requires minimal end-user training. The resulting product provides a means to rapidly access inspection data, brush charts, track charts, maps, reports and multi-media information, such as photos of the right-of-way or track roadbed. This solution significantly reduces the time and labor required to access information commonly used to plan inspections and maintenance, investigate track-related accidents and generate reports or data exports that can be taken into the field.
The TrackIT Data Management System can be hosted at the customer’s site or leased as a service through ENSCO’s data/web hosting plans. ENSCO maintains a staff of software, industry and IT experts on call to support and provide consulting expertise on this system.
