Delivering Safety and Efficiency to the Avionics Marketplace

ENSCO is a critical supply partner to major commercial and military avionics programs. By delivering quality, safety and reliability to our customers, we continue on a path of notable growth.
 

Strong Growth

During FY08, ENSCO continued to grow and expand in the avionics industry. Fueled by new and existing contracts, our aggressive growth far exceeded last year’s revenue. The Avionics Solutions Group (ASG) continued to furnish expertise to several advanced aerospace programs, further solidifying our long-term customer relationships. Additionally, our long-standing managed engineering services were a critical workforce extension to large avionics corporations such as BAE Systems.

At the core of our growth is our expertise for the DO-178B and DO-254 development standards, which we utilize to support all stages of the system development lifecycle. Our process-driven approach and domain expertise give our customers the confidence they need when deploying today’s high-reliability, safety-critical airborne systems.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner Team

One of ENSCO’s notable successes in FY08 was participation in the Boeing 787 Dreamliner team. We continue to supply critical services to several lead systems providers on the 787, specifically to Hydro-Aire, a Crane Aerospace & Electronics company, by leading the verification work on the Boeing 787 brake system. Under contract with Hamilton Sundstrand, we are conducting software validation testing on the remote power distribution system, and the electrical power generating and starting system. Also under contract with Hamilton Sundstrand, we are performing DO-178B, Level A code reviews for supplemental cooling and cargo refrigeration power systems to be loaded on the 787, distributing the work across three of our regional offices.

Expanding Role with the Joint Strike Fighter Program

ENSCO’s Avionics Solutions Group (ASG) continued its involvement on the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program in FY08 by successfully completing a multimillion-dollar unit test contract with the JSF prime contractor. Through continuous process innovation and improvement, we attained high levels of productivity for flight safety-critical software testing, saving both cost and time for the JSF program and other avionics test programs managed by ASG. BAE Systems awarded us one of the largest multi-year contracts in ENSCO’s history for ongoing support of critical services, including avionics software development, module testing, hardware engineering, systems engineering, and software quality assurance. In addition to our traditional avionics software services, the ENSCO software development team began a new and exciting branch of avionics work with BAE Systems’ JETEYE™ program. The JETEYE program will use sensors and lasers to protect aircraft from heat-seeking missiles.

SeaPort-e Opportunities

ENSCO was awarded acceptance into the SeaPort Enhanced (SeaPort-e) electronic procurement program. This Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract enables ENSCO and our 12 teammates to compete for task orders.
 

Geographic Expansion

Already recognized as one of the largest outsourced avionics software engineering solutions firms in the United States, ENSCO strengthened that reputation by integrating and marketing itself regionally in core geographic areas in FY08. This year, we celebrated the opening of a new West Coast office in Riverside, Calif., and the expansion of our Midwest office facilities in Rockford, Ill. Continuing growth and a dedication to safety in the sky helped ENSCO’s avionics team reach new heights in FY08.
